Tunis is the capital and largest city of Tunisia, on the coast of the Medditerenian sea. The city has an ancient history, it has a great Medditerenian climate and the vibrance and atmosphere of the Middle East. If you want to visit a more exotic location, it’s worth it. That being said, when it comes to cannabis, the situation in Tunisia isn’t great.

Cannabis laws in Tunisia

Tunisia has a long history of cannabis and hashish use through the ages, but sadly the current laws do not reflect this. Due to French influence, the country has imposed very strict drug laws and no exception is made for marijuana. The use or possession of cannabis can land you in prison for 1 to 5 years and a fine of around  $500-$1500. The sale and cultivation of cannabis will get you in even more trouble.

The cannabis laws in Tunisia are very strict and smoking weed while it is very risky. Of course, the enforcement is not always the best and many policemen can be bribed to turn a blind eye. However, it’s not a good idea to push your luck.
