Weed in Guadalajara

Guadalajara is Mexico’s third-largest city and has everything to offer that you might expect from a Latin American city of that size. There is culture, there is art and of course, there is delicious Mexican food to be enjoyed there. On top of all of that, cannabis laws in Mexico are not very strict, and getting some weed to smoke while in Guadalajara shouldn’t cause much trouble.

Cannabis laws in Mexico

Mexico appears to be on the brink of legalizing recreational cannabis, which would introduce a system similar to that in some states in the US, regarding the sale and purchase of pot. Until that goes into effect, however, the old laws still apply. Luckily, Mexico is not very strict when it comes to the personal possession of small amounts of cannabis, that being 5 grams or less. Usually, you’ll get away with just a warning for smoking a joint, though some cops might try to hassle you.

As long as you aren’t selling weed or carry more than 5 grams, there shouldn’t be much of an issue with smoking cannabis while in Mexico. It’s still a good idea to lay low until the new law is passed, but the laws are not particularly harsh.

Getting weed in Guadalajara

Because of the relaxed laws getting weed while in Guadalajara shouldn’t be too much of a problem. If you don’t know anyone that can help you out, just ask people in hotels, taxi drivers, or bartenders. A lot of people in Mexico smoke and most will be willing to hook you up. You do need to watch out for scams and bad quality weed, so it’s a good idea to check out the quality of the marijuana before you pay. You also want to haggle to lower the price a bit.
