When it comes to marijuana, the Spanish laws are very relaxed and cannabis is actually partially legalized. What that means is that, due to a loophole in the constitution, you are allowed to consume and grow weed in private spaces. In essence, you are legally allowed to smoke weed in your own house, there is no problem with that. When you go outside, however, it becomes illegal.

While it is illegal to possess and smoke weed in public in Spain, it is also decriminalized. What this means is that if you are caught smoking weed, at the most, you will get a fine and very often you will get away with just a warning. The truth is that the cops don’t care about random tourists smoking, as long as they do not cause any trouble. If you are well behaved and don’t smoke in some restaurant or the middle of the street, you will be fine.

It is pretty easy to find cannabis in Cadiz, after all, it is a touristy Spanish city. There is a pretty good chance you will be offered weed even if you don’t want to buy any. If you do, just walk around the beach in the evening and there is a good chance you will encounter a dealer. During the day, just ask one of the guys that sell sunglasses and bracelets on the side of the street. If you ask a couple you are bound to find some weed/hash. Hash is usually cheaper than weed and you can expect to pay about 7-10 euros per gram.
