Cannabis laws in Maryland

Maryland has very liberal cannabis laws, which are aimed at the big time dealers and traffickers instead of the people who consume weed for personal use. If you are caught with less than 10 grams of weed, it is considered to be a civil offense and you will receive a fine of 100$. For larger amounts of weed, the fine will go up and there is also the possibility to go to jail if you have a few pounds of weed on you. Hash possession is treated the same way as weed and possession of drug paraphernalia is not illegal.

Despite the relatively liberal laws, it is still best not to smoke weed in public. The fine for doing that is 500$.
